HCA has partnered with the Better Security, Better Care team to help deliver free support for the Data Security and Protection Toolkit (DSPT) in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.
What is the Data Security Protection Toolkit?
The DSPT is an online self-assessment tool that helps CQC registered care providers demonstrate their commitment to good data and cyber security practices, as well as meeting legal and regulatory requirements. The toolkit asks a series of questions about Staffing and Roles, Policies and Procedures, Data Security, and IT systems and devices, and should be completed at least annually by all CQC registered care providers, regardless of service type or size. Each question includes a detailed explanation and links to additional articles, templates, and videos.
Completing the DSPT annually and achieving Standards Met allows you to:
- Demonstrate safe and legal information management - Reassures people using your services, their families and your staff.
- Meet legal requirements - The Data Protection Act 2018, GDPR and the 10 Data Security Standards.
- Meet contractual requirements - For providers delivering services under an NHS contract.
- Answer CQC questions - About managing people's data.
